Dabba gosht is an exotic Indian mutton recipe. It is especially prepared on occasions like Eid. Dabba gosht recipe uses boneless mutton that is done to perfection. I wouldn’t say its an easy dish to prepare, but this Mughlai recipe will surely exhibit the chef in you! Dabba gosht is known to be the benchmark in Mughlai cooking.
Ingredients:
- ½ kg boneless meat
- 4 eggs ( 2 hard boiled and 2 beaten)
- 2 big tomatoes
- 1 lime
- 2 small onions
- 2 tsp oil
- 2 tsp ghee
- Salt as per taste
Green Masala:
- 1 inch piece of ginger
- Coriander leaves
- 10 green chilies
- 10 to 12 cloves garlic
- Cumin seeds
Powder Masala:
- ½ tsp coriander seeds
- ½ tsp turmeric powder
- ½ tsp red chili powder
Cashew nut Masala
- 100 gm cashew nut
- 2 tsp cumin seeds
- Coriander leaves
- Juice of one lime
Method:
- Grind the green masala together and keep aside.
- In a pressure cooker, add the meat, 2 onion slices, oil, green masala, powdered masala, meat and salt. Cook till done.
- Heat the ghee in a broad shallow vessel and fry about 7 to 8 crushed garlic flakes. Then add the cashew nut masala and fry on low flame. Then add the meat mixture and stir it well.
- In a baking dish, evenly spread the meat masala mixture. Slice the hard boiled eggs and spread it on the meat along with the sliced tomatoes.
- Sprinkle some finely chopped coriander leaves and green chilies.
- Lastly top it with two beaten eggs. Bake it at 180C for 15 to 20 minutes or until the egg is cooked.
